Alternative to the black box?
We had a customer who couldn’t use veneer in his application due to the cost, but the wife didn’t approve of black. What was the alternative you ask?
Our current finish in white. This fit the customers decor, and looks great.
After the break, more pictures, including some in room.
With a black grill.
In room with the black grill.
In room without the grill.
When my wife first saw it, she said in her best Napoleon Dynamite Tupperware voice, “I want that!”
It is very WAF friendly.
We can also do these in a white grill cloth if required.
The white matte paint, like our current black matte has its advantages:
- Its water based, and doesnt contain high VOC’s like some industrial paints. This makes it a green product and compliments our EFS construction material.
- Durable and scratch resistant. Allowing the cat to sleep on it, the children to use it as a castle, or you to use it as the occasional stepping stool.
- Done here in Iowa, by skilled American craftsman.
- The paint comes from an American company, manufactured and mixed in the good ole’ USA.
- It looks great!
The white matte paint is something which can be done on the full range speakers as well.
Cost for the white matte is an up charge based on the specific item, and quantity of items ordered in that color.
For example, the A5S-300 seen in the picture is an additional $50 in white.
These will not be stocking items, but done to order.

Raven,
With this guy, it meant white, or getting a really small subwoofer from a big box store. He was willing to meet the wifes needs, to avoid purchasing a small subwoofer. I would do the same thing.

“P-whipped”? I don’t recall any man-rule that requries a subwoofer to be black. In fact, I’d say it was more manly to go with the white so he could get the better sub.
eD - I think this is cool, and opens up a lot of possibilities, just like the veneers do.
