Please Welcome HAXO Subwoofers to eD (How To Save)
I’m sure by now some of you guys have noticed the HAXO subwoofers on the web site. There is one yet to be added which is the LXU 15 Underhung 15″ Subwoofer.
The models we are stocking to start with are the LXU 10,12,15 & LXO 12, 15.
Pics and more info after the break.
LXO 12 & 15

LXU 10 & 12 ( 15″ to be added this week )

The biggest questions we’ve gotten so far I’ll try to lay out for everyone here for reference. We’ve gotten a lot of e-mails and a lot of phone calls regarding the subwoofers already and we just can’t get to every board. Not everyone goes to ICIX so we thought it was best to put the information up here on the eD site.
1. Why pick up this new line to add with eD subwoofers?
It allows us to fill more product applications and service more clients who are purchasing elsewhere. We earn more clients = we do more business. We do more business we get to do more R&D and make new stuff. We make new stuff and the cycle repeats.
It’s a new start up looking for online representation. For now we are filling that need for HAXO. Their speakers do not compete with anything in our line but can supplement it very well. Much like DLS products and Tsunami products.
2. How do these compare to current eD offerings?
This is the beatiful part. They don’t. None of them are direct competitor. They all fill specific niches.
The LXO for example are really vented box only drivers in my opinion made to throw tons of power at. They’ll get extremely loud and take a beating. That’s their niche. They aren’t particularly fancy. They are big. They get loud. They fill the SP niche. We can just supply enough parts now to keep it moving and shipping and a web site product rather than custom orders only with a 2+ week build to ship time.
The LXU is really good for bigger sealed boxes. That’s not a application we currently sell subwoofers for at all. Larger sealed boxes or IB applications much like the flat cone O-Series makes it another good niche we can fill.
Both will take their fare share of abuse.
The entire eD line is engineered for extremely small sealed and vented boxes. Most are great IB. The LXO and LXU series speakers really are a completely different mentality of the current eD line. If you hate the Kv.2 and Ov.2 subwoofers you’ll probably really like these
If you love the Kv.2 and Ov.2 subwoofers you probably won’t really like these at all
So what about the 13Av.2? How do these compare? They don’t. 13Av.2 takes the cake in all areas. If your a SPL guy the 12″ or 15″ LXO might work better for you. Your also not using 13Av.2’s at all are ya ?:)
The 13Av.2 was not designed, is not sold, and is not suggested for SPL applications. The LXO’s on the other hand will work pretty darn well for that.
3. What are certain things that can be highlighted about these speakers?
They’ll take a lot of abuse. Biggest thing like I said is that if you like the Kv.2 and Ov.2 you probably won’t find much about these to like. If you don’t like the Kv.2 and Ov.2 you’ll probably find something about these to like.
4. How do the LXO’s compared to the custom SP’s I’ve ordered in the past?
In terms of performance the LXO’s can be used as a substitute for SP’s in our line up. They’ll give you generally the same thing with a warranty as well as a 10″ and 12″ offering at the same general price.
SP’s are not something we’ll continue at this time to sell under the Elemental Designs brand. With the LXO filling that niche for product we do not see a need to. We now have more options for those looking for that type of driver.
5. Can you recone more motors now with different soft parts?
Already started on quite a few. So yes
6. Are these available in custom configurations?
Yes and No. Most custom configurations involve us using different motors. Not a huge deal but that’s something that needs to be taken up with us via e-mail or on the phone. There’s no general list. There’s just too many possibilities.
7. Will I be able to purchase recones for these products?
Yes. Pricing will be announced but recones will be made available to purchase to have them rebuilt yourself if you see fit to do so if you are a competitor.
8. What is the warranty on HAXO Subwoofers?
Warranty on the HAXO subwoofers are 1 year.
9. I want to try it but I’m leary. How can I save some cash since I’m one of the first to buy?
Use the coupon code “earlyadopter” when buying HAXO subwoofers for the next 2 weeks and get 15% off. April 1st 2008 this will expire. It will not be extended at all. We’ve applied this discount to all HAXO orders placed the previous few days.
10. Where are these built?
In the USA.
11. You stole parts!?
No we didn’t. It’s hard to steal from the people who own the parts. That’s pretty much the exact opposite of stealing. The people who own the parts are selling parts. That’s good make sense business.
12. If I’m local and want to come watch you build the subwoofer can I ?
Yes.
13. I’m a dealer. I want them in my shop. Can I buy from you?
No. We are not a distributor. Please contact HAXO.
14. How come I can buy so cheap right now.
New company wants to get word out. We have a efficient operation. We can sell really thin and when people let us with no buying requirements it’s really easy to do that. There’s no precedent for it and the idea is to get as many out there as possible to start so people can see they are great subwoofers and well worth the money.
It also makes them really really really affordable for the first people to try them.

Looks nice, but then again, also look like the older Crystal Mobile Sound CMPx2 and Comps minus the Crystal logos.
Any truth to that?

Kef,
The LXU stuff is built right on evolving old COMPX platforms.
The LXO stuff is built on the COMPx2 platforms but the 10″ and 12″ have been drastically updated. Primarily with a new motor geometry and coil / spider configuration for more excursion.
