DL Series-
The DL series was developed as a replacement for our successful W6-6TC speakers. The feedback we received from customers was that they loved the sound, but wanted more headroom. We also frequently received requests for matching towers and a center channel.
We took this criticism and developed the DL Series around these suggestions.
The DL speakers are constructed and assembled in Iowa using our revolutionary EFS material. All of the products feature dado inset bracing creating a rigid platform for the speakers for perform. Cabinets are also finished with our proprietary eco friendly paint.
Making the products in Iowa allows us to use the higher quality components and materials, all while offering our product at a very competitive price. Even our crossovers are hand built in Iowa. We do this to ensure the sound is clean and accurate, reproduced as the recording intended.
In house production allows us to invest more heavily in parts and less in freight to our facility.

no offense but pricewise you’re going up against very well established (and regarded) brands in the audio industry like B+W and PSB. I’ve liked every product i’ve bought from you guys but at this price point i know of too many superior brands to choose from

Thank you for the kind words. Being Internet direct we feel that we can offer more performance for every dollar spend. If the product does not work in your application, we can change the cabinet, or other items to fit your needs. The joys of manufacturing in house.

What are accent panels?

The accent panel would be the front baffle which the speakers are mounted onto.
We have the availability to cut this from a real wood such as oak. Giving you a nice black cabinet with a real wood panel. Not just a veneered face.

Yes, the price point is high as I thought the new line would be lower but we must wait and get some feedback on these once they get out into the hands of customers before we can say they are overpriced.

You have to remember, there is always the package pricing the drops the cost 15%. With the introductory pricing you are also saving 20% at this time.
We wanted to offer something that took performance a step above the W6 line, to do this, we needed to use higher cost components. This increases the overall selling point.
I agree Eric. Once people get their hands on the product, they will see the value and performance in the DL series.

can you provide more info about the drivers? The tweeter looks like the VIFA ring. who makes the mid woofer? is that an in house design?

Hey Ben,
How are the A7S-450’s treating you? Thank you for the warm wishes. We really take pride in the fact that we are making these here in the USA.
The tweeter is manufactured by the same company who does the Vifa radiating rings. We found that these drivers work extremely well with minimal amount of crossover work. The result is a flat frequency response above audible human range, and very easy to listen to at high levels for long listening sessions.
The woofer is actually designed by the same team who did the Scanspeak Revelator line. They use a cast aluminum frame with raised spider landing for increased cooling and excursion capabilities.
It uses a copper shorting ring to help lower distortion levels.
Being an environmentally friendly manufacturer, we chose to use a renewable resource as a cone material. The cone material is made with natural Papyrus fibers. These Papyrus fibers offer a highly damped cone that is very strong. Plus we think it looks unique as well.

yes, still loving the A7s-450’s. The pair are perfect for my space. After 3 years it still sounds and looks great.
That sounds great. my other speakers are vifa ring units also. I have a pair of Norh 7.0 monitors that use the ScanSpeak 9700 series. These should be fantastic units as well.
are you saying that vifa and scanspeak have their drivers made by a third party?

Vifa is more of the selling side. There is an OE manufacturer who builds the drivers.
As for my mentioning on the Scanspeaks, much of the team who did the Revelator series left the company to work on other ventures.
